The CEO of Openi Sam Altman said on Friday that the company is delaying the release of its open model, which was Already rejected in the month At the beginning of this summer. Openi had planned to release the model next week, however Altman said that the company is rejecting it indefinitely for further security tests.

“We need time to perform further security tests and review the high -risk areas. We are not yet sure that it will take us for a long time,” said Altman in A Placed on x. “While we trust that the community will build great things with this model, once the weights are out, they can do back. This is new for us and we want to do it well.

The version of Open Model Open in Openi is one of the most awaited events of summer, together with the release of GPT-5 by the chatgpt manufacturer. Unlike GPT-5, Openii’s open model will be available for developers to download and perform freely at the local level. Through both of these launches, Openii will wait to demonstrate that it is still the main AI of the Silicon Valley laboratory – an increasingly difficulty task such as XAI, Google Deepmind and Anthropic Invest billions of dollars in their efforts.

The delay means that the developers will have to wait for a small line to try the first open model that Openi has released over the years. Techcrunch had previously reported that Openi’s open model would have had reasoning skills similar to the company’s O-Warries of Models and that Openi expected to be the best class Compared to other open models.

The ecosystem of the models to the open has become a little more competitive this week. Friday before, Chinese startup ai Moshot Ai launched Kimi K2, A model of open from a trillion of a trillion overlooking the GPT-4.1 AI model on Opeeni on different benchmarks of agent coding.

In June, when Altman announced the initial delays on Openi’s open model, he noticed that the company had achieved something “Without valley and quite surprising,“But he didn’t develop what he was.

“As for the ability, we think the model is phenomenal, but our bar for an open source model is high and we think we need a little more time to make sure to release a model that we are proud of each axis,” said Aidan Clark, vice -president of Openai who is guiding the team of the open model, in a Placed on x Friday.

Techcrunch had previously reported that the workers leaders discussed to allow the open model of Connect to the models to the hosted by the company’s cloud For complex questions. However, it is not clear whether these features will transform it into the final open model.
