Amazon launches a new R&D group focused on artificial intelligence and robotic agent

The Amazon technology giant plans to launch a new group within its division of consumer products that will focus on artificial intelligence agent.

Amazon has announced this new research and development group during an event on Wednesday, second Reports from CNBC. This group will be based on Lab126, Amazon’s R&D Hardware division which is behind technology, includes Amazon Echo and Kindle.

The reason why this group of artificial intelligence agent is probably based in a hardware research and development center is that Amazon hopes that this group will develop a framework to the agent to be used in the company’s robotics efforts and to provide the company’s warehouse robots more skills.

Techcrunch contacted Amazon for more information.
