Israel Issues Urgent Evacuation Warning for Yemen’s Sana’a Airport Amid Rising Tensions

Tensions in the Middle East have escalated after Israel launched a retaliatory airstrike on Yemen’s Sana’a International Airport, following a missile attack by Houthi rebels near Tel Aviv. The strike disabled the airport, prompting global concern over humanitarian access and regional stability.

Details of the Israeli Operation

On May 6, Israeli forces issued evacuation warnings before targeting the Sana’a International Airport. The airstrike destroyed key infrastructure, including terminal buildings, the runway, and nearby power stations. According to the Israel Defense Forces, the airport facilities were being used by the Houthis for transporting weapons and personnel. (Source: nypost.com).

Humanitarian and Regional Impact

Houthi media reports say the Israeli airstrikes killed three people and injured 38 others. The destruction of Sana’a airport raises major humanitarian concerns, as the airport served as a key hub for international aid deliveries into Yemen. (Source: apnews.com).

International Reactions

Iran condemned the Israeli airstrikes, calling them an attempt to sabotage ongoing nuclear diplomacy. The Houthis have threatened further retaliation against Israel. Meanwhile, the U.S. and the U.K. continue to carry out their own operations against the Houthis in different parts of Yemen. (Source: the-sun.com).

Conflict between Israel and Houthis

The intensifying conflict between Israel and the Houthis risks further destabilizing the Middle East. With critical infrastructure like airports being destroyed, Yemen’s humanitarian crisis is likely to worsen. Global leaders are being urged to step in and prevent further civilian casualties.
